KCA University (KCAU) is a private, non-profit institution founded in July 1989. The university is currently seeking to recruit qualified and experienced academic staff for the positions of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Lecturer within the Curriculum Development department. These roles are essential for fostering a strong academic culture of excellence, integrity, and innovation.
Responsibilities
For Professors and Associate Professors:
- Teach and facilitate learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels through lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
- Lead the development, planning, and implementation of high-quality curricula for academic programs.
- Attract research funding through grants and collaborations, lead research teams, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
- Supervise postgraduate students (Masters and PhD) to completion.
- Provide leadership by mentoring junior faculty, guiding early-career researchers, and supporting staff development.
- Serve on university committees, boards, and (for Professors) the Senate to contribute to policy formulation and decision-making.
- Participate in program reviews, audits, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain proper records of students’ examinations and ensure timely entry into management systems.
- Foster partnerships, consultancy, and outreach initiatives that enhance the University’s visibility.
For Senior Lecturers and Lecturers:
- Teach and facilitate learning through assigned lectures, workshops, and tutorials.
- Participate in developing, administering, and marking exams and continuous assessment tests.
- Develop learning materials and maintain student progress and attendance records.
- Contribute to the implementation of high-quality curriculum and supervise undergraduate/postgraduate research work.
- Produce research outputs and publications in line with performance appraisal plans.
- Participate in writing research proposals and applying for grants.
- Engage in departmental and faculty seminars and participate in University-wide working groups.
- Undertake continuous professional development.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Professor
- Earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the University as an Associate Professor.
- Minimum of six (6) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Associate Professor.
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s and two (2) PhD students to completion.
- Attracted research/development funds as at minimum a Co-PI in at least two projects.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
Associate Professor
- Earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as a Senior Lecturer.
- Minimum of five (5) publications in reputable refereed journals since promotion to Senior Lecturer.
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s and one (1) PhD students to completion.
- Attracted research/development funds as a researcher in at least two projects.
Senior Lecturer
- Earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience as a Lecturer OR six (6) years of research/industry experience.
- Minimum of four (4) publications in reputable refereed journals since appointment as a Lecturer.
- Supervised at least three (3) Master’s students to completion.
- Attracted research/development funds in at least one project.
Lecturer
- Earned PhD or equivalent earned doctoral degree in the relevant field.
- At least three (3) years of continuous teaching experience at the university level, in research, or in industry.
- Minimum of two (2) publications in reputable refereed scholarly journals.
- Registered member in good standing with the relevant professional body.
