The Power Plant Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment in the power plant, ensuring safe and efficient operation. This role is vital for the optimal performance and reliability of power generation equipment, including engines, turbines, and compressors within the facility.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on power generation equipment and associated mechanical systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues in engines, turbines, compressors, and other power plant systems.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and fluid systems to ensure continuous operational reliability.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical schematics, and manuals to perform repairs and installations accurately.
Document all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and operational upgrades in support of plant operations.
Operate and maintain specialized tools and testing equipment required for mechanical system maintenance.
Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols, operational standards, and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.
Collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members to prioritize tasks and meet operational goals.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Apprenticeship: Successful completion of a three-year apprenticeship program in mechanical trades or power plant mechanics.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical systems related to power generation.
Travel Readiness: Must possess a valid passport (valid for a minimum of one year at the time of hiring) and be able to travel internationally.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in industrial power plant environments and familiarity with best practices for equipment safety.
Physical/Medical: Must successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain them for the duration of the deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications or advanced technical training in power plant systems or mechanical maintenance.
Prior experience working in OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or austere environments with multi-national workforces.
Valid country driver’s license.
Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills.
