Pharmacist

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee safe dispensing procedures by monitoring the dispensing process as performed by pharmaceutical technologists.
• Implement proactive and effective interventions at all stages of the medication management and use system (MMU) to minimize errors.
• Proactively engage in following up on client concerns and providing timely feedback.
• Ensure an efficient pharmacy service flow by managing turn-around times.
• Implement Quality policies and departmental performance indicators.
• Actively participate in drug use reviews (DURs) and patient review rounds (ward rounds) in the hospital.
• Manage stock effectively, with a specific focus on controlling stock variation.
• Prepare and dispense medications in a safe and accurate manner, with special emphasis on High Alert Medications.
• Prepare and submit timely reports, including medication error reports, clinical interventions, stock variances, and client satisfaction reports.
• Participate in and guide antimicrobial stewardship across the hospital.
• Track, report, and act on key performance indicators of the pharmacy department.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognized University.
• Registration Certificate and Practice License from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
• At least 2 years of work experience in a busy hospital setup.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite will be an added advantage.
• Evidence of knowledge and experience in chemotherapy and IV admixture techniques.
