Role Overview
The Open University of Kenya is seeking qualified Part-Time Lecturers to join its academic team specializing in Entrepreneurship and Healthcare Management. The university aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education. By leveraging technology and flexible learning modes, the university seeks to accommodate a larger number of qualified students, enabling them to access quality education remotely.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality instruction in Entrepreneurship or Healthcare Management through the university's online and distance learning platforms.
Manage and provide academic support to students in a digital learning environment.
Utilize innovative teaching methodologies to enhance student learning outcomes.
Maintain academic standards and provide timely feedback to students through various remote communication channels.
Facilitate online learning modules and virtual lectures.
Assess student performance and provide necessary academic guidance.
Develop and manage digital course materials as required.
Qualifications and Experience
For appointment to these positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Academic Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field (Entrepreneurship or Healthcare Management) from an accredited university.
Alternative Qualifications: A Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited university (in special cases) with at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level.
Professional Standing: For Master's degree holders, registration in good standing for a Ph.D. in the relevant field is mandatory.
Digital Proficiency: Must be computer literate with a demonstrated ability to handle digital content and support students in an online environment.
Experience: A minimum of three years of teaching experience at the university level (specifically for those applying with a Master's degree).
