Job Description
The Open University of Kenya (OUK) is inviting applications for the position of Part-Time Lecturer within the School of Engineering and Applied Technology. OUK aims to address the capacity limitations of traditional universities by utilizing innovative teaching methodologies, specifically online and distance education. This role is central to leveraging technology to provide flexible learning opportunities for a large student body.
Role Purpose
The Part-Time Lecturer will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and academic support via digital and online platforms. The focus is on delivering technical curricula in engineering and technology while managing digital content and facilitating a robust online learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver academic lectures and instructional materials in Engineering and Applied Technology subjects.
Manage and handle digital course content tailored for distance and online learning.
Provide online student support and mentorship through the university's learning systems.
Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, practicals, and examinations.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of digital curricula to meet industry and academic standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant field from an accredited university. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited university (considered in special cases).
Experience: For Master’s degree holders, at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level and evidence of being registered in good standing for a PhD in the relevant field.
Digital Proficiency: Must be computer literate with a proven ability to handle digital content and support students in an online environment.
Documentation: Ability to provide an updated CV, academic certificates, testimonials, and professional body memberships where applicable.
