Job Description
CURE International is looking for an Orthopedic Trauma Technologist to join the team at AIC-CURE International Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking plastering procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines while maintaining the hospital's quality standards. This role involves direct clinical support, patient education, and participation in outreach activities to enhance the quality of care for children with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Clinical Procedures: Undertake plastering procedures and techniques in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines. Assist in the application and removal of all types of casts, splints, and other rehabilitation aids for both in-patients and out-patients.
Patient Documentation: Document the condition and progress of patients and report any areas of concern to relevant medical staff. Ensure that the rights, dignity, and confidentiality of patients are protected at all times.
Safety & Compliance: Comply with all Hospital policies regarding staff and patient safety. Manage clinical risk, adhere to treatment protocols, and report all accidents or incidents to the Rehab in-Charge.
Facility & Equipment Management: Responsible for maintaining, cleaning, and restocking plaster room materials. Locate and maintain equipment, ensuring it is Health and Safety checked.
Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all requirements of the quality management system (Safecare) and lead quality activities related to the position as per Hospital Standards.
Collaboration & Education: Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure smooth service running. Provide plaster care education and information to patients and their caregivers to prevent complications.
Outreach: Travel to remote mobile clinics as directed to coordinate functions between the facility and partner clinics for better patient care.
Professional Conduct: Be legally responsible and accountable, caring, compassionate, and professional at all times.
Requirements
Education: A BA, BSc, or HND in Orthopedic Technology or a related healthcare field.
Knowledge: Profound understanding of plastering procedures, orthopedic casting materials, and rehabilitation techniques.
Standards: Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., Safecare) and healthcare documentation standards.
Professionalism: Ability to maintain high standards of clinical performance and professional ethics.
Mobility: Willingness to travel to remote mobile clinics for patient outreach.
