Information about the role\n\nThe International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH) Kenya is seeking a Mixed-Methods Research Assistant to support projects related to sexual and reproductive health. The role involves collecting high-quality qualitative and quantitative data through direct engagement with health facility staff and research participants while maintaining strict ethical standards.\n\n### Responsibilities and Duties\n\n* Attend all in-person fieldwork and project training sessions for the full designated period.\n* Sign and comply with all study confidentiality, ethics, and data protection requirements.\n* Engage with health facility staff to identify, recruit, and screen eligible participants according to study criteria.\n* Obtain informed consent from participants, ensuring they fully understand the study purpose and procedures.\n* Administer structured questionnaires and collect high-quality quantitative data using approved tools.\n* Conduct and moderate qualitative interviews (including in-depth and key informant interviews) using structured or semi-structured guides.\n* Accurately document qualitative responses through detailed notes and digital audio recordings.\n* Prepare and submit complete, well-formatted transcripts (verbatim and clean read) for assigned qualitative interviews.\n* Ensure accurate and timely data entry, verification, and submission of all qualitative and quantitative data for daily cross-checking and quality assurance.\n* Maintain strict ethical standards, including participant privacy, confidentiality, and respectful engagement.\n* Ensure timely and secure transmission of data to the central server and maintain proper handling of all sensitive information.\n* Manage study materials and equipment, including questionnaires, consent forms, audio recorders, and other field tools according to study protocol.\n* Compile daily field progress updates, debriefing notes, and contribute to problem-solving discussions with supervisors and the wider project team.\n* Summarize emerging findings and provide feedback to the research team to support ongoing analysis.\n* Manage interview and data collection logistics and promptly report any field challenges.\n* Be available to work full-time during data collection and participate in scheduled team meetings.\n* Perform any additional duties assigned by the study coordinator or project management team.\n\n### Qualifications and Experience\n\n* A bachelor’s degree in public health, Population Health, Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Social Science, or other health-related fields.\n* At least 3 years of experience in sexual and reproductive health-related research involving both qualitative and/or quantitative data collection.\n* Demonstrated experience in conducting qualitative interviews (IDIs, KIIs), note-taking, and using qualitative research tools.\n* Proven experience collecting quantitative data directly from participants in a health facility or clinical settings.\n* Prior experience working with NGOs or reputable research organizations/institutions.\n* Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to interpret basic clinical notes.\n* High ethical standards and commitment to participant welfare.\n* Fluency in English and Swahili (oral and written).
