Job Description
The International School of Kenya (ISK) is looking for a Middle School Life Centered Education (LCE) Teacher. Responsibilities and Duties
Student Integration: Facilitate the integration of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities into the general education setting.
Curriculum Design: Design and implement curriculum using the Understanding by Design (UbD) model, ensuring it meets the diverse needs of LCE students.
Instructional Delivery: Apply student-centered instructional approaches and conceptual inquiry to foster an engaging learning environment.
Social-Emotional Support: Integrate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies into the daily educational experience.
Collaboration: Utilize effective communication skills to collaborate with students, parents, and fellow educators to support student growth.
Assessment: Develop and manage assessments that align with instructional goals and pedagogy to track student progress.
Cultural Proficiency: Maintain cultural proficiency to effectively support a diverse international student body.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Master’s Degree in Special Education, with a specific emphasis on developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Certification: Current teaching certificate from an accredited university or college.
Experience: At least 4 years of experience teaching students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an inclusive setting; international experience is highly preferred.
Knowledge Base: Solid understanding of pedagogy, instructional approaches, curriculum design, and assessment.
Key Competencies: Demonstrated ability in Cultural proficiency, Understanding by Design, Social Emotional Learning, and student-centered inquiry.
