Role Overview
The County Government of Lamu is inviting applications for the position of Medical Specialist I - Radiologist. This is a specialized medical role responsible for providing diagnostic imaging services to support clinical decision-making within the county's health facilities. The successful candidate will be expected to utilize various imaging modalities to diagnose, monitor, and treat patients while ensuring high standards of safety and professional ethics.
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform and interpret a wide range of diagnostic imaging procedures including X-rays, Ultrasounds, CT scans, and MRIs.
Provide expert consultation to other medical practitioners regarding the selection and interpretation of imaging tests.
Perform image-guided interventional procedures as required.
Ensure radiation safety protocols are strictly followed for both patients and staff.
Maintain accurate medical records and diagnostic reports.
Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings and contribute to patient management plans.
Oversee quality control in the radiology department and manage imaging equipment maintenance.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, the ideal candidate must:
Be a Kenyan Citizen (National Identity Card/ Passport).
Have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) Degree from a recognized institution.
Have a Master's Degree in Radiology and Imaging from a recognized institution.
Be registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Have a valid specialist practicing license.
Have a certificate of Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP) Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks.
Have a certificate in Computer applications skill from a recognized institution.
