Job Description
The County Government of Lamu is recruiting a Medical Specialist - Gynaecologist to provide specialized medical services in obstetrics and gynaecology. The role involves managing women's reproductive health, performing specialized surgeries, and leading clinical teams within the county's health facilities to ensure high standards of maternal and neonatal care.
Responsibilities
Providing specialized obstetric and gynaecological care and treatment to patients.
Performing complex surgical procedures within the specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology.
Managing high-risk pregnancies and coordinating prenatal and postnatal care programs.
Supervising, mentoring, and training medical interns and junior medical staff.
Ensuring the health facility complies with standards set by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Participating in policy development and strategic planning for reproductive health services in the county.
Maintaining accurate medical records and reporting using computer applications.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, the ideal candidate must:
Be a Kenyan Citizen (National Identity Card/ Passport).
Have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) Degree from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Have a Master's Degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Have served as a Medical Specialist I – Gynaecology for a minimum period of three (3) years.
Be Registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Have a valid specialist practicing license.
Have a certificate of Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP) Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks.
Have a certificate in Computer applications skills from a recognized institution.
