Role Overview
Embu University College is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Mechanic/Driver. This dual role involves professional driving and technical maintenance of the institution's motor fleet. The successful candidate will ensure the safe operation of university vehicles while performing mechanical diagnostics and repairs to maintain the fleet in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate university vehicles for official transportation and logistics tasks.
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults to determine necessary repairs.
Identify and recommend specific spare parts required for vehicle maintenance.
Perform routine maintenance and complex repairs on various motor vehicles.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the garage.
Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic regulations during operation and maintenance.
Assist with basic technical administrative tasks using computer systems.
Requirements
Education: KCSE Grade D+ (plus) or KCE Division IV.
Driving License: Valid license class A, B, C, and E. For smart license holders, requirements are classes B, C1, C, D1, D2, and D3.
Certification: Government Trade Test III for drivers/mechanics.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification work experience in a busy and formal motor vehicle garage.
Technical Skills: Proven ability to diagnose, identify parts, and repair vehicles.
IT Literacy: Basic computer skills are essential.
Added Advantage: Practical knowledge of motor vehicle electrical systems.
