Guru Nanak Ramgarhia Sikh Hospital is seeking a dedicated Laundry Attendant to join their team. The hospital is known for its wholesome care that emphasizes the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of its patients. The Laundry Attendant plays a critical role in maintaining these standards by ensuring high-quality cleanliness and hygiene for all hospital linens and patient clothing.
Key Responsibilities
Linen Intake and Assessment: Handle all incoming items to the laundry, including foul linen; record the number of pieces and check their status for stains, tears, color, and material type.
Availability Management: Ensure clean linen is always available to prevent shortages in any department at any time.
Quality Control: Ensure that all linen issued to departments and patients is free of stains; perform stain removal prior to cleaning.
Inventory and Equipment Stewardship: Account for all items and equipment in the laundry, explaining any shortages or spoilage. Ensure all machines and equipment are in good working order and report defects or problems immediately.
Linen Processing: Sort clothes/linen for different treatments; wash, dry, and iron all linens and patient clothing in accordance with specific instruction labels.
Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain records of any damage to items while in the laundry. Report on the condition of patient clothing to enable replacements when necessary.
Stock Management: Report shortages and recommend when replacement stocks are required.
Hygiene and Sanitation: Maintain the laundry room in a clean and hygienic condition at all times.
Other Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Housekeeper.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Certificate or Diploma in Dry and Laundry Techniques.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a laundry attendant, with a strong preference for experience within a hospital setup.
Key Competencies and Skills
Physical Stamina: Ability to move intermittently during working hours, lift heavy linens, and stand for long hours.
Operational Skill: Capability to operate laundry machinery and follow technical instruction labels.
Professionalism: Ability to handle pressure and maintain a flexible schedule, including working weekends and holidays.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain a liaison with other departments and serve with a positive attitude.
