Role Overview
Under the supervision of the Departmental Trainer and Training Manager, the Pastry Trainee will undergo a structured training program to learn high-standard culinary operations within a luxury hotel environment. This role focuses on developing foundational skills in the pastry section while maintaining excellence in hygiene and service.
Key Responsibilities
Hygiene & Standards: Maintain a hygienic kitchen environment and high personal hygiene. Ensure all company culinary standards are consistently met.
Food Preparation: Learn to prepare and cook food items according to the restaurant’s menu under supervision.
Workspace Management: Clean and re-set working areas after use; operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all occupational health and safety (OHS) legislation, policies, and property safety procedures including first aid and fire emergency protocols.
Ingredient Handling: Assemble and prepare ingredients for various menu items.
Inventory Support: Assist with the checking, receiving, and storage of kitchen goods and maintain storage areas.
Communication: Establish and maintain professional and effective communication within the Food & Beverage Department.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Degree or Diploma in Culinary Arts from a recognized learning institution.
Experience: No prior work experience is required.
Recent Graduates: Candidates should have completed their coursework within the last year (2025/2026), even if they have not yet formally graduated.
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Skills and Attributes
Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multinational environment.
Excellent grooming skills and a strong understanding of professional and personal etiquette.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
An outgoing personality with a proactive learning attitude.
