Role Overview
As a Kitchen Assistant at Mirema School, you will support the culinary team in the preparation and service of nutritious meals for learners and staff. Mirema School is a Christian-based primary school offering various curricula, including 2.6.6.3/8.4.4, International British, and Special Needs. You will play a key role in maintaining kitchen hygiene, ensuring food quality, and presenting dishes professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients including chopping, peeling, sorting, and cutting.
Meal Service: Prepare and serve meals for learners, staff, and during school events, ensuring punctuality for all meal times.
Kitchen Support: Follow the cooks' instructions on general kitchen operations and participate in daily food preparation.
Resource Management: Ensure a consistent supply of clean and fresh water for cooking and cleaning.
Presentation: Dress and present dishes attractively before they are served to maintain high standards.
Nutritional Standards: Adhere to menus and instructions from the cooks to ensure all meals meet healthy eating and nutritional standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Certificate in Food Production or Catering.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
Certifications: Must have a valid Certificate of Good Conduct and a valid Food Handler's Certificate.
Skills and Attributes
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent customer care skills.
Basic computer literacy.
Creativity and effective problem-solving abilities.
