Job Description
Amentum is a global leader in designing, engineering, and modernizing critical systems and programs of national importance. We are seeking a professional Baker to join our team in Lamu. The role involves ensuring that all bakery products are consistently prepared at the highest quality standards, utilizing standardized recipes and maintaining strict hygiene protocols. This position may involve working in remote or austere environments with a multi-national workforce.
Responsibilities
Check and ensure that all bakery products are consistently prepared at the highest quality standards.
Utilize standardized recipes and use weights and measures to adjust ingredients accurately.
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and ensure the work area is kept clean and sanitized at all times.
Oversee other staff members in the absence of the Head Baker.
Record production and waste data on a regular and consistent basis.
Accurately complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning lists.
Ensure that all food preparation is completed for the following shift.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements and Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience baking in a full-service or institutional food service environment.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Diploma qualification preferred).
Certification: Must possess a valid ServSafe certification or equivalent.
Communication: Good English communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and personnel.
Documentation: Must be in possession of a valid passport (valid for at least one year at the time of hire) and be able to travel internationally.
Medical/Security: Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and obtain/maintain facility credentials or authorization.
Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods (10-12 hours), bend, kneel, and reach; ability to lift, carry, and push supplies/boxes up to 50 pounds.
Vision and Dexterity: Good vision, English reading ability, and physical dexterity to operate food service equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to multi-task and handle service points such as the grill and general food preparation.
Punctuality and the ability to contribute to a positive dining atmosphere.
Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
Position requires shift work, including days and nights.
Living and working conditions could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours with potential exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be prepared to move on short notice under adverse conditions.
