As a Kiswahili, CRE & Social Studies Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students. This role involves designing and delivering engaging lessons that meet curriculum standards, particularly focusing on the CBC approach. You will manage classroom behavior using positive discipline, assess student progress, and maintain accurate records of attendance and performance. Additionally, you will support students in exploring career pathways and collaborate with parents and other stakeholders to foster a productive educational community.
Responsibilities
Child Protection & Safeguarding: Set and uphold behavioral expectations in the classroom using positive discipline strategies to create a culture of trust and safety.
Learning Environment: Foster an inclusive and respectful classroom atmosphere in line with the client strategy.
Instructional Design: Design effective lesson plans and projects aligned with curriculum standards and the client's educational approach.
Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging instruction using visual and audio strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Resource Development: Create teaching aids and learning materials tailored to the interests and needs of the learners.
Assessment: Develop, administer, and grade assessments to measure and track learning progress.
Data Management: Utilize assessment data to provide feedback and adjust teaching strategies for improvement.
Record Keeping: Maintain precise records of student attendance, behavior, and academic performance, including incidents.
Career Guidance: Assist students in identifying career pathways and nurturing their unique talents.
Co-curricular Activities: Plan and execute classroom and outdoor activities, and support school events.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to encourage their participation in the learning process.
Safety Reporting: Monitor and report any noted incidents of violence, neglect, or child abuse.
Professional Development: Continuously enhance professional skills through self-directed learning and network activities.
Additional Responsibilities
Supervise daily duties such as assemblies, meals, and student arrivals/releases.
Participate in school network activities and working committees.
Collaborate with the social work team to provide individualized support to students.
Advance the organization's mission and vision through consistent professional conduct.
Requirements
Bachelor's of Education in Kiswahili, History / CRE.
Must be TSC (Teachers Service Commission) Registered.
5+ years of experience within a child-centric CBO, NGO, or school environment in Kenya.
Strong expertise in at least three learning areas.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in CBC (Competency Based Curriculum) delivery and best teaching practices.
Excellent work ethic, reliability, and time management skills.
