This role is for a Video Journalist within the BBC World Service's Tigrinya team. You will be responsible for originating video ideas, shooting and editing videos, and preparing scripts for both video content and online text. Furthermore, you will be involved in sharing some of the stories covered across the broader BBC network.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
- Use a range of video, audio, and digital equipment, as well as information technology, to research, write, assemble, edit, and deliver content in the appropriate medium to the highest professional standards.
- Present content on radio, television, or online platforms, either live or recorded, as required.
- Undertake pre-production, post-production, and studio work for both live and pre-recorded programmes.
- Collaborate closely with your immediate team and the wider BBC to ensure high-quality editorial and technical output.
- Take a lead within a team setting or delivering a specific piece of journalism or project as appropriate.
Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Significant recent experience as a journalist, coupled with a good knowledge of production techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent video editing skills and strong teamwork abilities.
- Excellent command of both Tigrinya and English languages.
- Ability to deliver under tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
- Ability to utilize necessary technology to gather material for broadcast.
Qualifications:
- BA/BSc/HND qualification is required.
