This is a hands-on, modern design role focused on producing high-impact visual content primarily for digital audiences. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with editors, video producers, social media managers, and commercial teams to deliver compelling graphics, motion visuals, and branded content, often required to meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design digital-first graphics for news, features, social media, web, and video platforms.
- Create motion graphics and short animations for social media and video content.
- Develop visual assets for branded content, campaigns, and partnerships.
- Design thumbnails, lower thirds, explainers, and visual storytelling elements.
- Maintain brand consistency across all Switch Media platforms.
- Collaborate with editorial and commercial teams from concept to execution.
- Deliver fast turnarounds without compromising quality, especially during breaking news or live events.
Required Skills & Experience
The role requires a designer with a strong background and proficiency in multimedia production:
- Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating digital, social, and multimedia design.
- Software Proficiency: Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Motion and Video: Working knowledge of motion graphics and basic video editing.
- Digital Context: Strong understanding of social media formats, aspect ratios, and platform trends.
- Creative Translation: Ability to interpret editorial briefs and translate them into strong visuals.
- Work Ethic: Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
- Modern Tools: A designer who actively uses modern tools to work smarter and faster. This includes understanding of ethical and responsible use of AI in journalism and media.
