Old Mutual Kenya is part of a larger group offering solutions in long-term savings, asset management, and investment. We are looking for an Internal Loss Adjuster for General Insurance (GI) Claims to join our team in Nairobi. The role is centered on assessing the extent of loss in claims to determine liability and ensuring fair outcomes for both the insured and the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed reports, negotiating settlements, and providing technical advice while maintaining high ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Assessment and Adjustment: Timely assess the extent of loss into claims to determine liability; prepare detailed loss adjustment reports, including indemnity calculations; and negotiate settlements for fair outcomes.
Process Improvement: Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency in claims management and advise on risk recommendations for policies.
Documentation and Review: Review policy terms and conditions to ensure coverage; coordinate with clients, witnesses, and service providers for evidence; and review/provide quality assurance for external loss adjustment reports.
Large Loss Management: Review and recommend reserves for large losses; follow up with external loss adjusters and visit incident scenes for large losses.
Risk Mitigation: Identify potential fraudulent claims and escalate for review; implement measures to minimize risk exposure and reduce claims leakage.
Communication: Maintain professional communication with clients, brokers, and third-party service providers; provide expert advice on technical and financial aspects of claims.
Reporting and Quality Assurance: Prepare monthly reports on the status of all claims under adjustment; review the quality of external reports and conduct performance reviews for external adjusters.

Requirements and Qualifications

Professional Certifications: Insurance professional qualification (IIK or CII) and professional certification in Insurance Loss Adjusting (CILA).
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of insurance technical processes.
