The IKI Capacity Development and Stakeholder Engagements Coordinator will play a pivotal role in strengthening Native Tree Seed (NTS) systems across multiple countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Burkina Faso. This position is responsible for identifying technical and institutional gaps, developing specialized training programs, and managing stakeholder networks to ensure the sustainable management and restoration of landscapes through high-quality seed supply systems.
Key Technical Responsibilities
- Capacity Needs Assessments: Coordinate country-level assessments to identify gaps in tree seed facilities, equipment, testing, storage, collection, and BSO establishment.
- Training Development: Review existing assessments and prior trainings to identify lessons and overlaps. Develop comprehensive training materials for technical experts and create curriculum for Training of Trainers (ToT) courses on GESI, landscape restoration, and rural engagement.
- Coordination & Delivery: Support and coordinate the delivery of technical trainings and facility improvements to strengthen NTS systems. Facilitate the use of digital learning platforms in collaboration with the CDE unit.
- Evaluation & Documentation: Develop workflow and governance efficiency assessments for institutional processes. Conduct training impact evaluations and document stakeholder cross-learning events.
- Communication: Support media coverage and communication events regarding training and capacity development actions.
Managerial and Coordination Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Engagement: Contribute to sectoral assessments and policy processes. Establish and strengthen networking platforms and communities of practice among project partners.
- Workshop Management: Coordinate workshops and stakeholder meetings for the dissemination of knowledge products.
- Collaboration: Facilitate effective collaboration between country teams, technical experts, and institutional partners, including coordinating activities with BGCI.
Other Responsibilities
- Identify and mitigate potential risks within the work area.
- Adhere to CIFOR-ICRAF’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and applicable statutory requirements.
- Participate in broader Theme Trees/Centre projects and events as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: MSc specializing in Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagements.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in capacity development and stakeholder engagement.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience working within international organizations is strongly preferred.
- Core Skills: Strong facilitation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills.
