The ICU Nurse at Africa Management Solutions Limited (AMSOL) is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients within the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves continuous monitoring of patient conditions, administering complex medications, and operating advanced life-support and monitoring equipment. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to evidence-based critical care practices and clinical protocols, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver coordinated and effective patient care. Key duties also include managing resources within the ICU, maintaining accurate medical records, and participating in quality improvement initiatives to ensure patient safety and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
Monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and operate advanced life-support and monitoring equipment.
Ensure adherence to evidence-based critical care practices and clinical protocols.
Monitor patient safety indicators, infection prevention measures, and clinical outcomes, and support quality improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
Ensure efficient utilization of resources, equipment, and consumables within the ICU.
Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, ensuring effective communication during handovers.
Support continuous professional development and contribute to a culture of excellence and teamwork.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized institution.
Postgraduate training in Critical Care, Anesthesia, or ICU specialization.
Valid registration and practicing license with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
Minimum of 3–5 years’ clinical experience in an ICU setting.
Mandatory valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications.
