ICT Officer - Multimedia Designer (UI/UX & Digital Media)

The Open University of Kenya (OUK) is recruiting for a position formally titled ICT Officer - Multimedia Designer (UI/UX & Digital Media). Candidates should note that the actual duties and required qualifications detailed below are unequivocally those of an Internal Audit or Finance Officer position. The role is dedicated to internal control, financial oversight, and compliance within the University.

OUK aims to address the pressing issue of limited capacity in traditional universities by employing innovative teaching and learning methodologies, including online and distance education, leveraging technology and flexible learning modes.

Duties & Responsibilities (Internal Audit/Financial Control Focus)

The appointed officer will primarily be responsible for audit and financial oversight functions, including:

• Implementing fraud investigation and anti-corruption policies, strategies, guidelines and plans.
• Compiling data on financial records, systems and processes.
• Carrying out audit checks and identifying any accounting errors.
• Undertaking spot-checks and cash surveys.
• Performing information systems audits.
• Undertaking audit investigations.
• Developing scripts for mining and analyzing data for routine internal audit activities.
• Carrying out audit follow-ups on implementation of recommendations on audit reports.
• Undertaking audits on compliance of statutory provisions and internal regulations.
• Preparing documents and taking minutes of the risk and audit committee of the University.
• Preparing internal audit reports.
• Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by their supervisors from time to time.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

For appointment to this grade, one MUST meet the following criteria:

Option 1:

• Passed CPA II (section 4) with 3 years relevant experience.

OR

Option 2:

• A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in a relevant field such as Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized and accreditation institution.
• Certificate in Accounting in Packages, Audit Packages or computer applications relevant to auditing.

Terms of Service

Note that the Terms of Service will be either Permanent and Pensionable OR Contract, as shall be determined by the University Council.
