About the Role
Adept Systems is a Kenyan management consultancy company established in 1994. We are seeking a highly competent, experienced, and dynamic Human Resource Manager to oversee and manage all HR operations, practices, and policies.
The successful candidate will ensure strict compliance with Kenyan statutory requirements and company policies, develop robust operational processes, and manage the full employee lifecycle to foster a productive and harmonious work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Compliance & Legal Governance: Monitor all HR activities and practices to ensure compliance with Kenyan statutory requirements (e.g., Employment Act 2007, Labour Relations Act, OSHA). Keep abreast of evolving labour legislation and advise senior management on implications for the business.
- Operational Processes & SOPs: Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR operational processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- HR Administration: Ensure accurate and timely execution of HR administration including contracts, onboarding, offboarding, leave management, and employee records.
- Employee Relations & Dispute Resolution: Manage employee relations, providing guidance to managers and supervisors on labour laws. Drive fair, confidential, and transparent grievance resolution. Support legal/compliance teams with necessary documentation if disputes escalate to legal proceedings.
- Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Partner with department heads to anticipate workforce needs, manage the end-to-end recruitment process, and maintain the approved headcount establishment.
- Performance Management: Coordinate and support the annual performance appraisal cycle, providing guidance and tools to managers. Support managers in addressing poor performance cases in line with due process and the Employment Act.
- Training & Development: Coordinate annual training needs analysis, manage the training calendar, track statutory safety inductions and certifications, and support individual development planning.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Partner with the HSE function to embed a strong safety culture and ensure HR-related OSHA obligations are met.
- Reporting & Analytics: Compile and present accurate HR operational reports (headcount, turnover, absenteeism, compliance status, etc.) to inform senior management decision-making.
Professional Experience and Educational Background Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field (a Master's degree is an added advantage).
- Active membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) Kenya is required.
- Minimum 6–8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial/HR management role.
- Demonstrable experience managing HR operations in a large-scale, multi-site, or manufacturing environment.
- Solid, hands-on experience navigating the Kenyan labour legislative framework (Employment Act 2007, Labour Relations Act, OSHA).
- Experience working alongside or managing relationships with external HR consultants, service providers, or shared service functions.
