Role Overview
This role acts as a strategic partner to the CFO on financial planning, performance management, and organisational priorities. Based in Nairobi on a 3-year fixed-term contract (subject to funding), the Head of FP&A leads the organization’s annual budgeting process across country and global teams, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and funding realities.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Partnership: Act as a strategic partner to the CFO on financial planning, performance management, and organisational priorities.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and develop rolling forecasts that reflect changes in funding and operations.
- Financial Analysis: Design and apply financial models and scenario analyses to support planning under uncertainty. Provide forward-looking insights to senior leadership regarding risks and trends.
- Staff Cost Management: Own the staff cost planning framework, including cost allocation across projects and funding sources. Provide guidance on workforce planning affordability.
- Reporting: Support financial analysis for Board-level discussions and contribute to Committee reporting.
- Team Leadership: Lead the International Finance team (FP&A, income management, and compliance), ensuring high-quality outputs and coordination.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Significant leadership-level experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling at an organisational level.
- Previous experience within a multi-country NGO or a complex international environment is highly desired.
- Essential experience working in donor-funded contexts with an understanding of cost recovery mechanisms and financial risk management.
- Strong track record in staff cost management, funding coverage analysis, and affordability planning.
- Proven experience leading and developing finance teams and partnering with executive stakeholders.
- Minimum qualification of a BA/BSc/HND in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Salary Offer
The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from KES 7,755,768 – KES 8,874,132 gross per annum, depending on experience.
