M-KOPA is seeking a Group Tax Manager to lead and oversee tax compliance and audit management across various African jurisdictions. This role is critical in ensuring the group adheres to multi-jurisdictional tax laws while managing filings and technical engagements with revenue authorities. The successful candidate will translate complex tax positions into actionable business guidance and manage risks effectively across East, West, and Southern African markets.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multi-jurisdictional African tax compliance, including VAT, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), and Withholding Tax (WHT) filings across East, West, and Southern African markets.
Execute and lead tax audits, engaging directly with revenue authorities on technical matters and dispute resolutions.
Draft defensible tax positions and lead local finance teams through various audit processes.
Translate technical and complex tax positions into clear risk assessments and business-ready guidance for stakeholders.
Maintain organizational rigor and manage multiple compliance deadlines across different jurisdictions simultaneously.
Identify and escalate material tax risks to senior stakeholders with clarity and speed.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: BA/BSc/HND degree in a relevant field (Finance, Accounting, or equivalent).
Professional Qualification: Fully qualified professional (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
Experience:
Proven track record in multi-jurisdictional African tax compliance and audit management.
Demonstrable hands-on experience managing tax filings (VAT, CIT, WHT) specifically in East, West, and Southern African markets.
Extensive experience leading tax audit execution and engaging revenue authorities on technical matters, including dispute resolution.
Technical Skills:
Ability to draft defensible positions and manage local teams through complex audit processes.
Demonstrated capability in translating technical tax positions into risk assessments and business-ready guidance.
Strong project management discipline and organizational rigor to handle multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
