Group Chief Finance Officer

As the Group Chief Finance Officer (CFO), you will contribute to the Old Mutual East Africa (OMEA) financial strategy, maintaining a long-term focus on the future financial direction of the business. You will partner with the East Africa Group CEO and business unit leaders in the development and rollout of the company's vision and strategy, improving and safeguarding financial results. You will be accountable for executing the financial strategy through managers and their teams to deliver sustained growth, providing effective management of the company's financial resources and ensuring timely, accurate reporting.\n\n### Key Tasks and Responsibilities\n* Corporate Strategy Shaping: Participate in the development of corporate strategy for OMEA, applying functional expertise to test viability and contributing creative insights.\n* Functional Strategy Formation and Execution: Lead the implementation of strategy, anticipating trends and complex challenges. Drive business profitability, guiding on ROE, revenues, AOP, and IFRS profits.\n* Board Relationship: Develop and improve relationships with board members, identifying priorities and strategic challenges.\n* Corporate Representation: Represent the organization in industry forums, boards, and committees, and in external relations with investors, clients, and partners.\n* Corporate Social Responsibility/Integrity: Oversee the CSR strategy and ensure full compliance and accountability.\n* Leadership and Direction: Set and communicate actions to achieve OMEA's mission, vision, and values; inspire a diverse workforce to achieve organization goals.\n* Regulatory and Compliance Management: Design and deliver the compliance strategy to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and assess internal control effectiveness.\n* Performance Management: Manage and report on business performance; hold direct reports accountable for business plans.\n* Organizational Capability Building: Identify and bridge capability gaps to meet emerging business needs, embedding personal development in the culture.\n* Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate stakeholder engagement plans for the C-suite and other key parties to support business decisions.\n* Budgeting: Set and approve area budgets, ensuring residual risk exposure is within limits.\n* Treasury and Investment: Monitor the implementation of robust treasury management systems and investment strategies to maximize profitability and cash flow management.\n* Systems and Digitalization: Lead the simplification and automation of finance systems and processes to safeguard assets.\n* Compliance and AML: Ensure adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), KYC, and Sanctions-related policies and procedures.\n\n### Qualifications and Training\n* Bachelor or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.\n* Professional accounting qualifications such as ACA, CA, CPA, or CIMA.\n* At least 7 years of working experience in accounting areas including financial reporting, management accounting, treasury, tax, and audit.\n* At least 3 years in a senior finance management position.\n* Knowledge of integrated accounting systems.\n* Understanding of local customs and excise duties, VAT, Withholding, and corporate tax laws.\n* Proven track record of managing large teams and driving process improvements.\n* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\n* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.\n\n### Competencies\n* Aligns Execution and Manages Complexity.\n* Builds Effective Teams and Ensures Accountability.\n* Business Insight and Strategic Vision.\n* Drives Results and Customer Focus.\n* Engages, Inspires, and Instills Trust.\n* Cultivates Innovation and Develops Talent.\n\n### How to Apply\nInterested and qualified candidates should apply online via the Old Mutual Workday portal at: https://www.myjobmag.co.ke/apply-now/1192166
