Safaricom is seeking a Governance & Cost Management Officer within its Network Operations department. This role is crucial for ensuring financial integrity, accountability, and compliance with company policies and procedures. You will be responsible for managing vendor performance, tracking operational costs, and supporting the end-to-end procurement process to ensure seamless business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Governance and Ethics: Uphold the company code of conduct and strictly adhere to safety, health, and wellbeing policies in all actions.
Vendor Performance Management: Track vendor performance against established SLAs and KPIs, and monitor compliance with contract terms (BPA/CPA). Handle vendor issues, escalations, onboarding, and system access.
Cost Control and Reporting: Monitor and capture site operational costs such as fuel, maintenance, and power. Consolidate data from multiple sources to identify variances and prepare regular cost reports.
Procurement Operations: Support the creation and validation of Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and track Purchase Orders (POs) through their approval cycles.
Financial Reconciliation: Assist with goods receipt processes, invoice matching, and reconciliation of PR/PO/invoice data. Flag discrepancies and follow up to ensure vendors are paid on time.
Data Management and Analysis: Maintain accurate financial and operational records, identify data gaps, and support improvements in reporting automation.
Cross-functional Coordination: Liaise between Operations, Finance, and external vendors to resolve system issues (e.g., Oracle ERP, iTower) and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in finance operations, procurement support, or data/cost tracking.
Technical Tools: Proficiency in Oracle ERP and iTower is required.
Excel Skills: Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data handling and reporting.
Analytical Skills: Basic understanding of financial and cost analysis.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, effective coordination, and the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
