Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified German Language Trainer to join its campus in Nakuru. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering German language instruction, developing high-quality course materials, and conducting student assessments to support the university's academic excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach assigned German language units in line with the established course curriculum.
Learning Materials: Develop learning materials, ensure timely preparation and submission of professional records, and maintain records to monitor student progress, achievement, and attendance.
Individualized Learning: Plan, develop, and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.
Assessments: Assess students' work, monitor their achievement, and supervise them during assessments.
Course Review: Take part in the course review process and adapt delivery patterns to meet student needs.
Marking & Uploading: Examine and mark Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts) and end-of-term assessments, and timely upload marks into the Management Information System (MIS).
Practical Instruction: Carry out practical instructions for trainees.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality curriculum.
Departmental Engagement: Participate in departmental meetings and carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Possession of a valid BA/BSc/HND qualification.
Language Proficiency: Possession of a valid Goethe Institute certification, with at least a B2 level proficiency in German.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching the German Language.
Core Skills: Strong communication, intercultural, and instructional design skills.
