Mount Kenya University (MKU) is seeking a qualified and motivated German Language Trainer on a full-time basis for its Nairobi campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality German language instruction, planning curriculum units, and assessing student progress.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction & Delivery: Plan, prepare, and teach assigned German language units in accordance with the course curriculum and outline.
Learning Support: Plan, develop, and deliver customized learning plans to meet individual student needs.
Materials & Records: Develop learning materials, maintain accurate professional records, and monitor student attendance, progress, and achievements.
Assessment: Assess students' work, supervise exams, set and mark Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs) and end-of-term assessments, and timely upload grades to the Management Information System (MIS).
Practical Training: Conduct practical instructions for trainees.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high-quality German language curriculum and participate in course reviews.
Collaboration: Participate in departmental meetings and perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
Language Certification: Valid Goethe Institute certification, with a minimum of B2 level proficiency in German.
Education: Possession of a BA, BSc, HND, or equivalent qualification.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching the German language.
Skills: Excellent communication, intercultural, and instructional design skills.
