Job Description
Wilderness is dedicated to providing authentic, genuine service and delivering the warmest hospitality with passion. We are seeking a Food and Beverage Supervisor to ensure guests have a positive experience at the camp by exhibiting excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supervising waiters in their roles, which include greeting guests, taking orders, communicating with the kitchen, and ensuring the timely service of both meals and beverages to guests.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Management: Allocate duties and prepare staff leave/off schedules. Maintain a professional image through clear communication, fairness, and respect.
Standards & Grooming: Ensure that punctuality, appearance, and personal grooming of staff are maintained at the highest standards.
Health & Safety: Eliminate hazardous working conditions. Adhere to all relevant customer service guidelines and HACCP/health rules and regulations.
Operational Oversight: Oversee the dining area to ensure it is clean and tidy (floors, furniture, and fittings). Supervise the preparation of tables, including linen, silverware, and glassware.
Guest Service: Greet and escort guests to their tables. Supervise menu presentations and provide detailed information on portions, ingredients, or food allergies.
Sales & Performance: Up-sell additional products where appropriate. Ensure waiters are informed of daily specials and offer menu recommendations.
Service Excellence: Ensure accurate order taking and timely communication with the kitchen staff. Supervise the delivery of food and drinks and ensure prompt clearance of tables.
Reporting: Maintain records of staff performance and report any cases of indiscipline to the Restaurant Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A minimum of a BA/BSc/HND qualification.
Certification: Completion of a Food & Beverage Service & Sales course from a reputable college.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar supervisory position.
Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Good verbal and written communication skills (proficiency in a foreign language is an added advantage).
Technical: Competent computer skills.
Interests: A passion for wildlife and a commitment to sustainability and conservation.
