The Kirinyaga Investment & Development Authority (KIDA) is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team. Reporting to the CEO of KIDA, the successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and analyzing financial information, assessing economic trends, and preparing forecasts to assist senior management in making informed business decisions. The role involves evaluating financial performance, identifying potential risks, and recommending strategies to optimize financial outcomes for the authority.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze financial data from diverse sources including financial statements, accounting records, market research, and economic indicators to assess organizational performance.
- Prepare financial models, forecasts, and projections to support budgeting and strategic planning processes, incorporating sensitivity analyses for potential outcomes.
- Conduct financial analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs), such as profitability, liquidity, and efficiency, to identify improvement areas.
- Develop comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and the board of directors.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and capital projects through cost-benefit analysis, ROI calculations, and risk assessments.
- Monitor actual financial performance against budgets, investigating variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist departments in developing financial plans and allocating resources in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Conduct industry research and benchmarking studies to assess market trends and peer performance.
- Analyze pricing strategies and product profitability to identify revenue enhancement and cost optimization opportunities.
- Support the implementation of financial systems and technologies to improve process efficiency and automation.
- Assist in financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, accounting, operations, marketing) to ensure data alignment.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions and board presentations to provide financial insights.
- Maintain high standards of confidentiality and integrity regarding financial information while ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
- Stay current with financial regulations and industry best practices through continuous professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- CFA Certification or any other equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience as a financial analyst, business analyst, or a related role.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis using software like Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and corporate finance concepts.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage large datasets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for non-financial audiences.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in database management tools and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
