The Finance Business Partner at HFDI (HF Development and Investments) serves as a strategic link between the finance function and business operations. This role provides critical financial expertise to support strategic growth, project viability assessments, and operational efficiency within the property and investment arm of HF Group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
Collaborate with business leaders to develop strategic plans and initiatives.
Assess the financial viability of proposed projects or investments, evaluate risks, and provide data-driven recommendations.
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to monitor financial trends.
Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Support strategic initiatives such as Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) structures and reporting.
Management Reporting
Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes in accordance with company policy.
Manage accruals for outstanding costs and ensure the reliability of Trial Balances (TBs).
Investigate and resolve system anomalies by working with technical teams and vendors.
Perform monthly comparative statistical analyses of financial figures and highlight major variations.
Financial Reporting
Prepare comprehensive financial reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
Produce audited financial reports for the property business and joint ventures, including consolidated financials.
Provide technical guidance on accounting standards (IFRS), specifically revenue recognition and consolidations.
Lead cross-functional learning programs regarding new accounting and reporting requirements.
Tax Accounting & Planning
Coordinate with the Group Tax Unit for monthly tax computations.
Validate tax numbers (tax recoverable, deferred tax, etc.) against computations and iTax ledgers.
Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
Coordination of Audits
Facilitate internal and external audits by providing schedules and handling queries promptly.
Explain management judgements regarding reporting standards and internal controls to auditors.
Credit Control
Oversee sales collections and reconciliations.
Enforce approved credit periods for policyholders and employers.
Principal Outputs
Monthly management reports.
Quarterly publications.
Effective liaison for internal and external audits.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
Professional Certification: CPA(K) qualification.
Membership: Must be a registered member of ICPAK.
Experience:
At least 6 – 8 years of experience in financial reporting.
Minimum of 4 years specifically in the property business.
At least 2 years of experience in banking financial reporting is preferred.
Skills and Competencies
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
Deep understanding of IFRS 15 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers).
Strong financial control and analytical skills.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Experience with SAP or external audit for property companies/banks is an added advantage.
