Role Overview
This position is responsible for the effective and efficient processing of Trade Finance Products, including Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Trade Financing, and Collections, within agreed regulations and standards. The role supports the Corporate and Institutional Banking, Business Banking, and Retail segments of the Bank in alignment with current policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Transaction Execution and Risk Management
- Ensure accurate and timely execution of all transactions throughout the transaction life cycle.
- Handle customer instructions, queries, and the transaction confirmation process, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy on unmatched confirmations.
- Manage the settlement process and associated risks.
- Process transactions via appropriate Messaging Systems and handle related accounting entries, reporting, and reconciliation.
Product Support
- Oversee import and export products for both onshore and offshore customers/counterparties.
- Manage Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Documents Under Collections, and Financing Products.
- Conduct commission collection, reporting, reconciliation, message control, and accounting entry processing.
Compliance and Quality Control
- Ensure operations comply with local and international laws, market standards, and the bank's risk standards.
- Achieve effective compliance with operational risk management and conduct periodic self-assessments on key controls.
- Ensure Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) documentation and technologies function according to CBK Prudential guidelines.
Foreign Exchange (Forex) Operations
- Monitor dealer limits on all forex contracts and approve transactions within the Core Banking System Treasury Module.
- Ensure timely and accurate settlement and confirmation of all interbank forex deals.
- Conduct daily end-of-business forex revaluation and maintain proper custody of processed deal tickets.
Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and KYC
- Adhere to and implement Compliance, AML, and Sanctions-related policies.
- Execute customer due diligence processes and maintain data quality.
- Identify and monitor potential AML/Sanctions breaches and escalate suspicious activities to the Risk and Compliance Office.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree (BA/BSc/HND) in a relevant field.
- Professional qualifications in CPA or ACCA.
- Certificate in International Trade Finance and/or Trade Finance Training (CDCS).
- Minimum of five (5) years’ working experience in trade finance and Treasury operations within a busy Financial Markets Operations environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Trade Finance products (Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Documents under collection).
- In-depth knowledge of SWIFT message types under trade, controls, best practices, and standards.
- Knowledge of project management is an added advantage.
