World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) is seeking motivated, detail-oriented enumerators to support field data collection activities. Enumerators will conduct face-to-face interviews with farmers, traders, aggregators, and retailers, collect physical measurements of vegetable consignments, and document transport and handling practices within selected production areas and markets in Bungoma. The role involves supporting multiple aspects of field research, including training, data entry using digital tools, and experimental tracking of vegetable units along the value chain. ### Key Responsibilities: - Participate in enumerator training sessions and pretests. - Identify and locate selected survey respondents with the support of local contact persons. - Conduct structured interviews with farmers, aggregators, traders, wholesalers, retailers, and other value chain actors using digital survey tools. - Assist with the experimental tracking of vegetable consignments along value chain routes, including recording transport modes, packaging types, handling practices, quality grades, temperature, and weight of vegetable units. - Complete market observation checklists documenting infrastructure conditions, handling practices, and postharvest management practices. - Ensure accurate and complete recording of data while maintaining high-quality data collection standards. - Submit completed surveys and field reports daily to the field supervisor. - Participate in daily debrief meetings to discuss field experiences, challenges, and data quality issues. ### Required Qualifications & Skills: - Minimum of a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Statistics, Development Studies, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. - Prior experience working as a field enumerator, research assistant, or data collector in agricultural or development studies is highly desirable. - Experience using digital data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, or similar mobile data tools. - Possession of an android based device (Mobile phone/tablet). - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with farmers, traders, and other community members. - Good numerical and observational skills to support measurement and recording of quantities and quality grading. - Fluency in English and Kiswahili, with ability to communicate in local languages spoken in the study areas. - Willingness to travel and work in rural and market environments within Bungoma counties. - Ability to work independently and meet daily data collection targets. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality data collection. - Experience with agricultural value chains, postharvest studies, or food systems research will be an added advantage. - Must be a local resident of the county as accommodation costs will not be covered. ### How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV), a short cover letter explaining relevant experience, and contact details for at least two referees.
