Job Description
Rescue Dada Centre (RDC), an initiative of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi, is seeking an Empowerment Officer for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is central to the 'Vocational Training and Economic Empowerment for Former Street-Connected Girls Project,' focusing on coordinating training, mentorship, and job placements for vulnerable girls.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Empowerment Manager, the Empowerment Officer will be responsible for the effective implementation of vocational training and economic empowerment initiatives. The goal is to ensure that girls enrolled in the program acquire market-relevant skills, complete their training successfully, and transition into sustainable livelihoods through employment or self-employment. All interventions must be delivered in a child-friendly, rights-based, and trauma-informed manner.
Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation
Develop and coordinate monthly work plans in line with the project's annual plan and RDC Standard Operating Procedures.
Support the implementation of project activities in compliance with approved budgets and financial policies.
Participate in monthly review meetings and contribute to adaptive planning based on progress.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all activities and prepare monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual progress reports.
Networking and Stakeholder Engagement
Establish and maintain partnerships with accredited TVET institutions, private sector actors, and other stakeholders to support training and job placement opportunities.
Manage stakeholder relationships and contribute to the development of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with training providers and employers.
Ensure training approaches are responsive to the specific needs, interests, and capacities of beneficiaries.
Vocational Skills Training Coordination
Coordinate the placement of beneficiaries in internal and external vocational training programs.
Monitor the quality and relevance of training provided by partner institutions.
Facilitate and oversee one-month industrial attachments for trainees to enhance workplace readiness.
Career Guidance and Skills Development
Provide individualized career guidance and coaching to support informed training and career choices.
Facilitate training in business skills, life skills, and employability skills for project beneficiaries.
Support beneficiaries in developing realistic career and business pathways.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Transition
Conduct regular monitoring of trainees through weekly phone follow-ups and field visits to training and attachment sites.
Track trainee progress, performance, and well-being.
Facilitate reflection sessions with beneficiaries to assess training experiences and personal development.
Link beneficiaries to job opportunities and facilitate the allocation of start-up kits/grants based on approved business plans.
Provide follow-up support and mentorship to beneficiaries transitioning into employment or entrepreneurship.
Administration and Data Management
Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential beneficiary records.
Conduct baseline and endline livelihood assessments.
Regularly update program databases including information on trainees, providers, and employers.
