The Electrical Technician role is focused on providing expert electrical and mechanical maintenance services, particularly in heavy industrial environments such as oil extraction, food processing, or heavy manufacturing. The technician must possess deep knowledge of automation, control systems, and industrial electrical safety protocols to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to strict safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Diploma, Higher National Diploma, or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a similar industry (e.g., oil extraction, food processing, or heavy manufacturing).
- Certifications: Training in First Aid and Fire Safety, and OSHA Certification or equivalent.
- Location Preference: The company preferably seeks candidates living in Mombasa or the Coastal Region.
Technical Skills
Instrumentation and Automation
- Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge in SCADA systems and human-machine interface (HMI) programming.
- Hands-on experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and motor control systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems applicable to oil extraction plants.
- Familiarity with power analysis tools for quality monitoring and optimization.
- Expertise with electro pneumatic, electrohydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
Diagrams and Standards
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Knowledge of electrical standards and codes relevant to the industry.
Safety Knowledge
- Knowledge in electrical safety, LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), permit-to-work systems, and confined space entry.
- Familiar with energized system protocols and hazard identification techniques.
