Role Overview\nAs an Editorial Design Intern, you will be at the heart of our Book Preparation Services, responsible for transforming raw, edited manuscripts into professionally formatted, print-ready books. You will work directly with our editorial and production teams to ensure that books are formatted and laid out with precision, consistency, and visual clarity. This is a practical, hands-on role for someone seeking to understand what makes a book readable, credible, and publishable.\n\n### Key Responsibilities\n* Format and typeset manuscripts according to Eword's operating procedures and client specifications. The goal is to ensure consistent use of fonts, margins, line spacing, paragraph indentation, and chapter headings throughout each book.\n* Prepare final book files to professional print specifications, including correct page sizes, bleed settings, and resolution standards required for offset and digital printing.\n* Apply and maintain uniform formatting standards across all sections of a manuscript, including front matter, body text, footnotes, headers, footers, and back matter.\n* Receive, organize, and process manuscript files from clients, ensuring all content is accounted for and formatted correctly before proceeding to print.\n* Conduct thorough visual reviews of formatted documents to identify and correct layout errors, widows, orphans, inconsistent spacing, and other typographic issues before final sign-off.\n\n### Candidate Profile\n* An individual with a genuine eye for design and a deep appreciation for how layout and typography affect the reading experience.\n* Someone with strong attention to detail who can spot inconsistencies in formatting, spacing, and alignment that others would overlook.\n* A person who is methodical and patient; book formatting is precise, repetitive work, and the ideal candidate takes pride in getting every detail right.\n* A proactive learner who is eager to understand the full publishing process, from manuscript receipt to final print file delivery.\n* Someone who is comfortable working with both design software and word processing tools, and who can adapt quickly to new tools and workflows.\n* An organized and reliable individual with the ability to manage multiple book projects simultaneously and meet production deadlines.\n\n### Qualifications\n* A Diploma, Higher Diploma or Bachelor's degree from a reputable Kenyan institution of higher learning.\n* Relevant fields of study: Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Art & Design, Publishing, Information Technology (Design track), Desktop Publishing, Digital Media, Print Technology, Print Production, or Digital Arts.\n\n### How to Apply\nSend your CV and cover letter to our email - .
