Job Description
Role Overview
To plan, manage, and coordinate all HGV drivers’ activity in Kenya in order to ensure cost-effective and quality service is rendered to clients (internal & external) in line with the DHL Supply Chain strategy. The role focuses on operational management, leadership, and maintaining high performance within the driver team.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Ensure both internal and external customers are treated with respect by drivers and receive the highest level of service.
Maintain availability of competent drivers to meet customer requirements at all times.
Lead and manage a team of drivers directly.
Handle customer grievances or queries related to HGV drivers appropriately.
Act as the principal operational liaison between DHL supply chain management and the driver team.
Build trusted relationships with the control tower, workshop, and operation colleagues to ensure efficient execution of driver duties.
Appraise management on general driver activities, challenges, and outcomes on a day-to-day basis.
Work closely with the driver trainer to enhance team skills.
Observe and enforce all DHL supply chain statutory and industry best practice obligations regarding driver management.
Ensure all delivery paperwork (briefing/debriefing reports, preposition checklists, weekly timesheets, etc.) is checked and filed or forwarded in a timely manner.
Evaluate driver violation reports and take appropriate corrective measures.
Ensure the driver management department complies with company and local statutory obligations, health and safety, quality, and Business Continuity Management (BCM).
Manage driver duty rosters to maximize availability while ensuring appropriate rest periods (offs, leave, sick offs) and cost controls (e.g., 6th & 7th day costs).
Develop a culture of respect and high performance, following the Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) and formulating action plans.
Administer and report driver performance measurements, including data for driver incentive schemes.
Monitor, report, and propose preventive measures against risks to DHL vehicular assets, consignments, and fuel.
Drive KPIs to ensure contract fulfillment and operational expectations.
Maintain strong customer relationships.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics.
Proven experience in driver leadership and people management.
Experience in fuel tracking and project management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
Proficiency in MS Office and relevant logistics management tools.
Deep understanding of supply chain needs within a logistics environment.
Fluency in English (verbal and written).
