Tatu City Limited is seeking a Clerk of Works for its Development Control Company. This role involves ensuring that construction activities within Tatu City comply with approved plans, specifications, industry standards, and safety protocols. The Clerk of Works will act as an essential inspector on-site, monitoring workmanship and materials to maintain the high standards of the development.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
- Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate workmanship, materials, and installations at various stages of the project.
- Deviation Reporting: Identify and report any deviations from approved plans and specifications.
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to address and resolve quality-related issues.
Safety Compliance
- Protocol Enforcement: Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all construction personnel.
- Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections, identifying potential hazards and ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly.
- Safety Culture: Collaborate with the safety team to promote a strong safety culture and compliance with relevant regulations.
Documentation and Reporting
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of inspections, observations, and test results.
- Progress Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports on the progress of construction activities and quality assurance measures.
- Departmental Updates: Provide regular updates to the Head of Department on project milestones, issues, and resolutions.
Collaboration
- Team Coordination: Work closely with the team to coordinate inspections and address any concerns promptly.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth project progression.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest enhancements to quality control procedures.
Requirements
- Education: Diploma or undergraduate degree in civil engineering, architecture, building and technology, construction, or related fields.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a site agent in construction developments.
- Technical Skills: Experience in development drawings interpretation and in-depth knowledge of construction technologies relevant to vertical and horizontal developments.
- Standards: Conversant with building codes, planning regulations, and construction standards.
- Management: Demonstrated ability to monitor a number of projects or applications simultaneously from inception to completion.
- Competencies: Strong problem-solving skills and reporting ability.
