Job Description
The Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the commission's external and internal communication, media relations, and corporate image. This role involves strategic planning and management of the communication division to ensure effective delivery of information and engagement with stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Overseeing exhibitions and events.
Ensuring implementation of recommendations from reports.
Overseeing the communication resource library.
Ensuring an appropriate environment for effective customer care.
Prioritizing critical issues from daily media briefings.
Ensuring an up-to-date and interactive website and intranet.
Overseeing the management of social media channels.
Approving articles for publication, written speeches, and press releases.
Overseeing the development and implementation of media and communication strategies.
Overseeing the planning and coordination of corporate social investment activities.
Coordinating protocol services for both internal and external events.
Overseeing implementation of Risk Management mitigation strategies.
Overseeing the implementation of audit recommendations.
Approving operational work plans.
Developing and monitoring proper utilization of the corporate communication budgets.
Establishing and maintaining good relations with the media.
Coordinating the preparation of the Commission's annual report.
Coordinating surveys on communication and customer care trends.
Supervising and guiding employees in the Division for optimum performance.
Requirements for Appointment
Served in the grade of Assistant Director, Corporate Affairs for a minimum period of three (3) years OR have six (6) years’ experience in a comparable position.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Education (Languages), or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
Master’s Degree from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
Membership to a professional body in good standing where applicable.
Certificate in a Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Terms and Remuneration
Basic Salary Scale: Kshs 192,782 – Kshs 288,051.
House Allowance: Applicable rates.
Commuter Allowance: Kshs 14,000.
Leave Allowance: As provided in TSC Secretariat.
Annual Leave: 30 working days per calendar year.
Medical Cover: As provided in the TSC Secretariat Medical Scheme.
Terms of Service: Five (5) years contract renewable once subject to satisfactory performance.
