Zetech University is seeking to appoint a Dean for the School of ICT, Media & Engineering. The position-holders will primarily be employed as teaching staff on permanent and pensionable terms, while holding the Dean of School position on a three-year renewable contract. Reporting to the DVC-Academics, Research and Student Affairs, the Dean will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the school.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans for the School.
Academic Quality: Oversee teaching and evaluation, ensuring timely, up-to-standard, and comprehensive course coverage and the integrity of examinations.
Attendance Monitoring: Oversee class attendance by both students and staff.
Resource Management: Plan for, allocate, and manage human and physical resources optimally.
Sustainability: Ensure the sustainability of the School through student retention, cohort completion, progression rates, and growth of the student population.
Research & Innovation: Lead and inspire research, innovation, and grant/proposal writing efforts within the School.
Industry Linkages: Establish and manage industry partnerships, collaborations, and linkages.
Internationalisation: Lead efforts in internationalising programme offerings, student nationality mix, and exchange programmes for students and staff.
Customer Service: Oversee customer service to students and staff, ensuring timely resolution of concerns.
People Management: Manage staff performance, work attendance, leave, and discipline.
Programme Development: Oversee the development and review of programmes to ensure they reflect market needs and the School's growth plans.
Policy Implementation: Implement University policies and strategies to improve graduate employability.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of a relevant PhD, Masters, and Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, Educational Technology, or a relevant field from an accredited and recognised University.
At least 3 years of teaching/research experience at the University level as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Evidence of publications as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Demonstrable leadership and administrative experience (e.g., Experience as a Head or Chair of Department, programme leader, postgraduate coordinator).
Supervised at least two (2) postgraduate students to completion.
Proven ability to attract research funds as a Lecturer/Research Fellow.
Evidence of attending and contributing to academic conferences, seminars, or workshops.
Demonstrable contribution to University life through active participation in departmental and school matters, academic advising, and committee membership.
Active membership in a relevant professional body.
