The Database Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization’s databases on Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms. Reporting to the Manager - Database Administrator, the incumbent ensures the availability, integrity, and performance of critical database systems supporting the bank's operations.
Responsibilities
Routine DBA Tasks: Perform health checks to ensure optimal database performance on Linux, Solaris, and Windows servers.
Capacity Planning: Manage space and ensure proper storage allocation for database environments.
Oracle Administration: Handle installation, administration, and troubleshooting of Oracle databases using industry best practices on Linux, Solaris, and Windows.
Data Replication: Implement, administrate, and troubleshoot Oracle Data Guard for Primary Data Replication.
Disaster Recovery: Manage Oracle Data Guard switchover, switchback, and failover procedures during production environment outages.
Database Security: Implement security measures and manage database users and permissions.
Automation: Develop and maintain Unix Shell scripts for Oracle database backup automation via Cron jobs.
Integrity Management: Maintain the availability and integrity of Oracle 10g, 11g, and 12c databases.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.
Certifications: Professional certification in Linux, Solaris Unix, Oracle database, MS SQL Server, or PostgreSQL administration.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in managing Solaris, Linux servers, and Oracle databases.
Ethics: Dependable and honest, with a high level of integrity and professional ethics.
Competencies: A conceptual thinker with the ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and prioritize tasks to deliver projects on time.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, and a high client service orientation.
