The Crane Operator / Rigger Foreman is responsible for overseeing crane operations and supervising rigging activities while ensuring compliance with applicable safety and operational standards. This role involves both the hands-on operation of machinery and the leadership of a rigging team to ensure mission readiness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Crane Operation: Operating cranes in a safe and professional manner in accordance with NAVFAC P-307 and other applicable standards.
Supervision: Leading and supervising rigging personnel during all crane and lifting operations.
Compliance: Ensuring all rigging operations are performed in strict compliance with NAVFAC P-307 guidelines.
Training: Providing necessary training and oversight to rigging personnel as required to ensure competency.
Communication: Familiarizing riggers with the proper use and understanding of hand signals for crane operations as specified in NAVFAC P-307 standards.
Equipment Maintenance: Inspecting rigging tools and equipment to ensure they are in good condition and meet operational standards. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on cranes to ensure operational effectiveness.
Planning: Preparing and reviewing lift plans to ensure crane and rigging operations align with safety and mission readiness guidelines.
Safety & Quality: Monitoring and ensuring compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations. Adhering to the Amentum Quality Policy to consistently provide services that meet customer expectations.
Procedure Compliance: Reading, understanding, and implementing operational, safety, and environmental requirements of all plans and policies pertaining to the job.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; BA/BSc/HND qualification is noted as a preferred standard.
Experience: Proven experience operating cranes and performing rigging operations.
Certification: Training and certification in accordance with NAVFAC P-307 standards for crane and rigging operations.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety procedures and practices related to crane and rigging operations, including the use of hand signals.
Documentation: Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least one year at the time of hiring) and a valid country driver’s license.
Travel: Ability to travel internationally and successfully pass contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce.
Extensive knowledge of NAVFAC P-307 requirements and best practices.
Previous supervisory or leadership experience in crane and rigging operations.
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
