About the Role
Terre des hommes (Tdh), the leading Swiss child relief agency, is seeking a Country Director to lead its operations in Kenya. Under the supervision of the Africa Regional Director, the Country Director ensures the proper functioning of operations at the national level and represents the Foundation legally and strategically. The role involves developing strategic plans, supervising projects, managing risks, and ensuring that all activities align with Tdh's mission to improve the lives of vulnerable children.
Main Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop the Delegation’s Strategic Plan and Annual Operational Plans (AOPs) in collaboration with program, fundraising, and expertise teams.
Operational Oversight: Ensure the consolidation and development of Tdh’s portfolio in Kenya, directing all projects in line with strategic orientations.
Representation: Act as the legal representative of Tdh in Kenya and promote the organization's mission to external stakeholders.
Team Management: Lead and supervise all delegation collaborators, fostering a shared vision and compliance with the Foundation’s ethical standards.
Risk and Security Management: Guarantee the implementation of an operational risk-management system and take responsibility for the security of staff and mission access.
Financial and Logistics Management: Oversee budgetary, HR, and logistical processes to ensure quality and accountability.
Communication: Manage internal and external communications, ensuring transparency with beneficiaries, donors, and staff.
Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities cover Strategy and steering, Representation, Security and safety, Human Resources, Finance and logistics, Management, and Reporting.
Requirements and Profile
Education: Master’s degree in Management or a field relevant to Tdh’s programs and expertise.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a similar leadership or Country Director role.
Languages: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; knowledge of French is considered a valuable asset.
Skills: Strong leadership, risk management, strategic planning, and the ability to manage complex operations in the NGO sector.
