Westlands Specialist Hospital is seeking a dedicated Cook to provide exceptional catering services in a healthcare environment. The role involves preparing and cooking nutritious meals according to approved menus and specific dietary requirements, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and hygiene.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and specific dietary requirements.
Ensure food quality, portion control, and presentation standards are consistently met.
Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety in accordance with regulations.
Follow special diets as advised by clinical and nutrition teams to support patient recovery.
Properly store food items and manage kitchen inventory effectively.
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas to ensure a sanitary environment.
Comply with all health, safety, and infection-control standards.
Support timely meal service across various hospital units.
Requirements and Qualifications
A Certificate or Diploma in Food Production or Culinary Arts is preferred.
Previous experience as a cook, ideally in a hospital or institutional setting.
In-depth knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).
Ability to work effectively in shifts and perform under pressure.
Team-oriented, dependable, and compassionate towards patient needs.
