This role is for a Construction Manager specializing in Solar Farms, responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities, including civil works, structures, PV module installation, cabling, and commissioning. The manager must ensure rigorous compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards throughout the project lifetime. This is a resident position required during the entire construction phase.
Mission and Responsibilities
The core duties and mission of the Construction Manager include:
- Supervise on-site works covering civil engineering, structures, PV module installation, cabling, and commissioning.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality assurance, safety, and environmental compliance procedures.
- Coordinate local teams and manage all subcontractors effectively.
- Track and monitor project progress against established budget and schedule baselines.
- Report regularly to the Project Manager and liaise efficiently with all project stakeholders.
Qualifications and Profile
Education & Experience:
- Master Degree in Solar PV or equivalent qualification in Renewable Energy Technology or Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience on renewable energy projects. Extensive experience specifically on solar power plant projects is highly desirable and considered a significant advantage.
- Solid professional experience working within Africa.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience dedicated exclusively to Grid Connected PV Projects.
Project Requirements (30MWp+ scale):
The candidate must demonstrate experience across large-scale projects (over 30 MWp), including:
- Involvement in 1 Project focused on Feasibility Study / Design (FS).
- Involvement in 1 Project focused on Control and Supervision.
- Service in 1 Project as a Resident / Solar Expert.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent or bilingual proficiency in English. Proficiency in French is considered a plus.
