Job Description
Ciheb is an international health, education, and research center founded by the Institute of Human Virology within the University of Maryland, Baltimore's School of Medicine. The center works with local stakeholders to combat infectious and non-communicable diseases in resource-limited regions. The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that Ciheb-Kenya remains compliant with organization-wide, donor, and government rules and regulations. This is achieved through the establishment of best practice project management systems, providing expert advice on donor requirements, supporting contract negotiations, and building business system capacity.
Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure internal control systems are robust and compliant with donor regulations and Ciheb-Kenya policies.
Proactively audit processes, practices, and documents to identify areas for improvement.
Conduct quarterly donor compliance spot checks and prepare reports for the Board/CEO.
Review sample documents from Finance, HR, Programs, Logistics, Procurement, and Grants, communicating findings for corrective action.
Provide technical support and awareness to all departments regarding donor compliance issues.
Support the design of internal controls and continuous improvement of finance, procurement, and reporting components of the proposed Ciheb ERP system.
Contribute significantly to ERP internal control design and risk evaluations.
Conduct investigations when required.
Participate in risk evaluations and maintain risk register updates.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Commerce Degree in accounting or a related field.
Full CPA-K qualification.
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualifications.
Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in auditing, accounting, and ERP implementation.
Proven experience working on audits of projects funded by USAID/CDC and other development partners.
Excellent writing and spoken communication skills in English.
Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Ability to manage and work with professional teams from operations and finance backgrounds.
High-level proficiency in MS Office application software.
