Role Overview
Kenya’s National Lottery is a national initiative designed to bring fairness, opportunity, and funding for good causes that move the country forward. The National Lottery Board (NLB) is the public institution mandated to oversee and safeguard the National Lottery, ensuring integrity and transparency. The Chief Executive Officer / Fund Administrator provides strategic leadership and policy direction to execute the NLB mandate: mobilizing resources for good causes, regulating the lottery, and managing the National Lottery Fund. The CEO ensures that revenues are equitably distributed in line with Kenya Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), in accordance with the National Lottery Act, 2023.
Duties and Responsibilities
Overseeing day-to-day management and operations of NLB.
Administering the National Lottery Fund, including retention, allocation, and disbursement of proceeds.
Serving as the Accounting Officer of the NLB.
Providing strategic leadership to staff and fostering a conducive corporate culture that promotes ethical practices.
Maintaining effective collaboration and partnerships with government organs, international organizations, the private sector, and stakeholders.
Guiding the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure competitive advantage.
Advising the Cabinet Secretary on matters regarding the National Lottery.
Fostering relationships with relevant Ministries and development partners.
Ensuring prudent management of all institutional resources.
Ensuring adherence to national and international conventions and treaties.
Coordinating budget preparation and financial reporting for NLB consideration.
Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and government guidelines.
Requirements for Appointment
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience.
At least five (5) years of experience in a leadership role.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Completion of a leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (Integrity and Leadership).
