National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI)
The National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) was established under the STI Act 2013 and is seeking to appoint a Chairperson to its Board. This is a high-level leadership role requiring an eminent scientist with extensive experience in leadership and management of public or private institutions.\n\n### Requirements for Appointment\nTo qualify for appointment as Chairperson of the NACOSTI Board, the applicant must meet the following criteria:\n- Hold an earned doctorate degree from a University recognised in Kenya.\n- Be an eminent scientist.\n- Be capable of contribution to science, technology and innovation.\n- Have at least fifteen (15) years experience in leadership and management of public or private institutions.\n- Be a person of high moral character and integrity in accordance with Chapter Six of the Constitution.\n- Not be serving in the Public Service.\n- Not be serving as a chairperson in a board of another public entity.\n- Not a member in more than one (1) board of a public entity.\n\n### Duration of Appointment and Terms of Service\n- The Chairperson shall be appointed for a term not exceeding three (3) years and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a further one (1) term.\n- Allowances payable shall be as determined by the Government from time to time.\n\n### Other Requirements\nApplicants must provide current clearances from:\n- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)\n- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)\n- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)\n- Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)\n- A Government-recognized Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)\n\nCandidates with degrees from foreign universities must provide certification from the Commission for University Education (CUE).\n\n### Mode of Application\nApplications should include a cover letter, a detailed curriculum vitae (using the template on www.nacosti.go.ke), academic and professional certificates, and a National ID or Passport. Submissions can be made via:\n- Hand Delivery: NACOSTI Headquarters, Off Waiyaki Way, 6th Floor, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (EAT).\n- Email: Scanned PDF attachment to selectionpanel2026@nacosti.go.ke.\n- Postal Mail: The Chairperson, Selection Panel for the Appointment of Chairperson and Members of NACOSTI Board, P.O. Box 30623-00100, Nairobi.\n\nApplications must be received on or before 5:00 pm (EAT) on Monday, 16th March, 2026, and clearly marked “Application for Chairperson, NACOSTI Board”.
Applications comprising a cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae (as per the template provided on the NACOSTI website www.nacosti.go.ke), copies of academic and professional certificates, National Identity Card or Passport, together with relevant testimonials and certificates, should be submitted through one of these channels:\n\n1.
