Job Purpose
The CAD Designer will be responsible for the takeoff of detailed and precise technical drawings and designs using CAD and other software. They will collaborate with the sales team, engineers, and project managers to translate concepts into actionable designs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards, project specifications, and client’s requirements while optimizing efficiency and material usage.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare detailed CAD drawings and specifications for projects, ensuring all designs meet project requirements and specifications.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to gather and clarify design requirements and specifications.
- Review and revise designs based on feedback from team members and clients, ensuring timely updates and adjustments.
- Identify design challenges and propose effective engineering solutions.
- Conduct quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Assist in project planning and scheduling, providing input on design timelines and resource needs.
- Contribute to design improvements and innovative solutions to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure that the proposals for the clients meet the agreed turnaround time of 24 hours for roof cover, gutters & ceiling boards Bills of Quantities (BQs) and 48 hours for Light Gauge Steel (LGS) BQs.
- Support the Project’s Supervisor in carrying out site inspection and measurements.
- Peer review light gauge steel structures design.
- Prepare light gauge steel and other BDL product quotations.
- Represent the Company in technical site meetings with clients and consultants on a need basis.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Stay updated on the latest CAD software, industry, and technology trends, implementing new tools and techniques as needed.
- Attend NCA/BORAQS seminars for NCA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.
- Perform any other duties assigned to you by your direct supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or any other related field.
- Experience: 2-5 years of prior work experience in technical drafting and construction design.
